Letter to Families

Hello ASC families,

Registration is now open for our 2021 Fall Camps. The dates again are November 17 – 25 for U12 – U19 athletes and November 25 – December 2 for U16 and U19 athletes.  For programming purposes and to confirm the coaches that will be traveling the registration deadline is October 17. Here is the registration link: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/288017.

Please take a minute to read the attached 2021 Fall Camp Fact Sheet.

You may pay a deposit plus the coaching fees (for part-time athletes only) now or make full payment. If you choose to make a deposit, please be aware that full payment should be made prior to departure online through our General Payment Site or with a check sent to: Alyeska Ski Club P.O. Box 1070, Girdwood AK, 99587. Just a quick reminder that U12 and U14 – U19 Part time athletes will have an extra coaching fee for the days that they will be on snow. Final reconciliation will be done at the end of the camp and your account will be reconciled according to the final cost of the camp.

Finally, in an effort to keep our athletes healthy and safe while traveling, ASC will continue to require proof of a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of departure for all athletes and coaches traveling with the team.  In the coming weeks, ASC will also be considering the guidance provided by the Western Region and in the updated version of US Ski and Snowboard’s COVID-19 Alpine Domestic Competition Guidance document for traveling teams. As an organization we are continuing to adapt to new health protocols and our changing environment. The entire coaching staff is committed to ensuring the safety of our staff, families and especially our athletes. We will be respecting protocols not only for our organization but for the facilities we will be using.

Just a reminder that all athletes need to be registered for the new ski season and need to be current with their USSS athlete membership.

Please reach out to me if you do have any questions.

I look forward to a great fall camp and to an awesome winter season.

Jennifer

U14 – U19 athletes are invited to attend the whole camp, July 25 through August 7. Same as the first camp, this will be in an overnight camp format. Athletes and coaches will be traveling and lodging together.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will require proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative PCR test done withing 72 hours of departure.

Schedule:
The camp will consist of three blocks of 4 days each with 2 rest days:

Travel Day: July 24
Block 1: July 25 – July 28
Rest Day: July 29
Block 2: July 30 – August 2 (U12 departure after skiing)
Rest Day: August 3
Block 3: August 4 – August 7 (U14-U19 departure after skiing)

We are returning to Anchorage the evening of August 7 after skiing. Flights booked after 5pm from Portland should work just fine. See attached document for coach flights.

Athletes that attended the first camp will only need to register and complete the Timberline Release of Liability (this is a new one, specifically for the second camp). They will not need to complete the ASC Release of Liability and Medical Release forms.

Athletes that have not attended the first camp, will need to register, complete the Timberline Release of Liability, ASC Release of Liability and ASC Medical Release forms to be returned to me.

Timberline link tip: the link seems to work better on smartphones. Let me know if you can’t get a final confirmation of completion.

When registering please specify flight number and time of departure from Anchorage, this will help us coordinate van departure times from the Portland airport.

Registration deadline is July 5 so we can confirm lodging and van rentals.

Please read thoroughly Camp Fact Sheet for camp estimated costs.

Please review the following documents for full information:

Please note, if you have an outstanding balance with the ski club, your athlete will not be allowed to attend this camp until that balance is paid in full. If you’re unsure of your account balance, please contact Leah Scott at officemanager@alyeskaskiclub.com.

Summer Activity Camp, July 5-9 and July 12-16

Initial Letter to Parents

Hello Parents,

ASC is excited to announce our 2nd annual Summer Activity Camp for the U10, U12, and U14 age groups. This year we plan to have two weeks of camp! Week 1 will be July 5th-9th and week 2 will be July 12th-16th. Athletes are able to register for either week 1, week 2, or both weeks. This camp will be a great opportunity for our young athletes to explore Alaska and participate in a variety of different activities while bonding with teammates. We have planned hiking and biking trips as well as excursions with third party guide services such as, rafting, kayaking, and rock climbing. Activities are subject to change based on weather and availability. You can find the details for each week in the attached flyer.
Unlike the previous year, we were unable to secure rental vans for transportation due to the lack of rentals available in Anchorage this summer. For that reason we plan to keep as consistent of a schedule as possible with the exception of some of our excursion days. Parents are encouraged to participate! Please see the attached flyer for cost and daily description details.
If you intend to have your athlete participate we do ask that you register as soon as possible so that we can give accurate numbers to the guide services we will be using. We will require a minimum of 5 registered athletes to make the camp happen. The registration deadline is June 20th, 2021. Registration will be done through the following Zone4.
Please contact myself or Jen if you have any further questions. We are thrilled to offer this two week camp and hope to see many of our young athletes getting outside with coaches and peers!
