Photographing professionally since 2002, Jonathan grew up skiing in Seattle before moving to Utah for college at the University of Utah. While there he became heavily involved in the ski industry as a photographer and athlete competing since the early days of the Freeride movement. Jonathan was regularly being published and appearing in front of the camera in Powder Magazine, Telemark Skier Magazine, among other publications, and a number of ski movies produced by Telemark Skier, Tough Guy Productions, and Vertical Integration. In 2009 Jonathan moved with his family to Alaska. There he would also focus on portrait photography with an emphasis on sports, weddings, children, drones, and events while continuing to photograph skiing.
Jonathan is not just a photographer for the club, he also has been the Head Coach of the U12 Freeride Team for Alyeska Ski Club since 2019. Skiing is his favorite photography subject and looks forward to photographing every ski program throughout the season.

Open Letter from Bob Eastaugh / December 2025
Hi Racers and Race Families,
After more than 13 race seasons of photographing the ASC races, taking maybe 600,000 race images, fulfilling many orders, donating sales proceeds that probably exceed $10,000 to the Club’s Juniors program, and submitting images to the ADN, the Juneau Empire, and Ski Racing, I’m retiring from actively photographing the races.
Although I won’t be routinely photographing the Club’s races this year, I will continue to fulfill new photo orders for races I photographed in past years and donate any sales proceeds to the Club’s Juniors program. Jon Gurry will be photographing the races this year and I encourage you to order photos from him.
Since I am not actively covering races (unless, of course, some race or series seems particularly enticing!), I will also reduce my redundant image backups for past races. I won’t discard original image files, but I will repurpose drives holding about 40TB of backup copies of image files.
As always, my ability to fulfill order depends on my availability, the continued availability of my image files (no more redundant backups!), and my Zenfolio website’s continued existence. (If anything happens to Zenfolio, it would make it very difficult for anyone to order anything.). As a reminder, this is the link to my race photo group, arranged by season, race, and, usually, gender.
